To amend Tennessee Code Annotated Relative to Foster Care
This was regarding the amendment to not allow homosexual adults to be foster parents in Tennessee. Although this provision has been removed from the legislation proposed the commission felt they wanted to show their support as representatives of the Dickson county voters. This support was approved by all present.
Approving an amendment to Article I of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee relating to the right to hunt, fish and harvest game.
The commission voted on support of this amendment and was approved by all present.
Approving amendment to Article XI of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee relative to the Marital Contract between One Man and One Woman
The commission voted on support of this amendment and it was approved by all present.
Discussion on Pond Convenience Site
The updates on this item are as follows: Mr. England (site is in his district) is discussing the monthly fee with the owner of the property. The negotiations are still open on that item. In the mean time Mr. Reed has found a possible alternate site owned by the airport authority. This site would not require any monthly fee or rent but would require some initial costs involved in moving the convenience site to this new location. Since all of the detail are not yet known the discussion was moved to the next meeting. There it is expected to have more information on the actual cost to move the site vs. paying a monthly fee for the current one.
Re-appointment of Andy Mathis, Mike Shelton and Danny Williams to the Dickson County Municipal Solid Waste Regional Board
These appointments were approved by all present.
Items not on the agenda
Proposed sale of 2 vehicles from the EMS department – it was asked to approve selling 2 well used vehicles no longer deemed safe for EMS purposes. The proposal is to have them sold at the next Sheriff’s auction and use the proceeds to purchase one "decent" replacement vehicle. This was voted on and approved by all commissioners present.
The next item not on the agenda was regarding the Dickson water authority. The water authority ad-hoc committee met to discuss two items regarding the running of city water to the area contaminated by the land fill. The first item they discussed was an agreement between the county and the water authority allowing the county to receive a portion of the water tap fees related to the installation of city water in the contaminated area. This is to defray some of the counties costs related to this issue. This was voted on and approved by all commissioners present. The next item they discussed was allowing the people, in the contaminated area, to get city water at the old tap fee of $1000 instead of the current rate of $1500. This was proposed because the fee was $1000 when the contamination issue was brought to light. This offer only stands for a limited amount of time. This proposal was voted on and approved by all present.
Notaries
12 applications were turned it, 7 of those were renewals. All were approved by all present.
